Stage 1 Drought Contingency Measures In Effect

The City of Blooming Grove has been notified that on Friday, September 30, the Trinity River Authority of Texas initiated Stage 1 of its Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan based on the declining water levels of Navarro Mills Lake. Stage 1, which is characterized by mild water shortage conditions, is triggered when the level of the lake falls below 421.5 feet. The lake is currently at 74% full.

Voluntary ways to reduce the water:

(i)     Use water in a manner that does not allow runoff or waste.

(ii)     Use a bucket, not spray nozzle, for washing and rinsing of vehicles.

(iii)     Make sure dishwasher is full before running.

(iv)     Wash full loads of laundry.

(v)     Take shorter showers.

(vi)     Turn water off when brushing teeth.

(vii)     Install toilet dam or other water-saving device on commode.

(viii)     Use water-saving native plants and shrubs in landscape.

Please utilize the following voluntary (5-day) lawn watering schedule during the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. These practices would also need to be implemented on public grounds to set an example for the general public.
