HIGH GRASS AND WEEDS

Sec. 6.02.172     Growth and maintenance standards

(a)     Persons owning, leasing, occupying, or having control of any private premises within the city limits, whether improved or unimproved, vacant or occupied, shall not:

(1)     Allow grass, weeds, or other vegetation of any description to grow or flourish to a height of greater than 12 inches above the surface of the ground on 90% of such property, or in, along, upon, or across the sidewalk or street adjacent to such premises in the area between the property line and the roadway line or within the area ten feet behind the property line, to include such locations as fences and wall bases, storage or work sheds, grassy and planted areas, borders, embankments, etc.;

(2)     Fail to remove prohibited grass, weeds, or other vegetation from the premises after they have been cut;

(3)     Allow fallen trees, fallen tree limbs or fallen branches, brush, or underbrush growth to accumulate upon such premises.

(b)     With respect to lots, tracts or parcels of land of two or more acres under single ownership, the provisions of this section shall not be applicable to the area in excess of 100 feet from any open public street or way, or to the area in excess of 100 feet from any adjacent property under different ownership on which habitable dwellings are located.
